Musicians in sexism documentary receive threats

Musicians participating in the Danish Broadcasting Corporation’s documentary series on sexism in the music industry have received threats, says Thomas Sandberg, chairperson of the Danish Musicians’ Union. He told Ekstra Bladet that these individuals were threatened over the implications of their involvement in the series. The impact on their careers regarding performances and record deals is still unclear. The series includes interviews with over 150 people, many of whom chose to remain anonymous due to fear of repercussions. Thirteen female musicians shared their experiences with harassment and sexism in the industry. Rapper Filuka, also known as Fiona Celeste Spang Bergsøe, revealed to Ekstra Bladet that she received threats via social media even before the documentary’s premiere. She emphasizes that the documentary should highlight and help change structural issues within the industry rather than targeting individuals.
