Lars Løkke calls for diplomacy in Iran crisis post-U.S. strike
The Danish Foreign Minister, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, emphasizes the importance of preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons, acknowledging the recent U.S. attack on Iranian nuclear facilities aimed at ensuring this. Despite the attack, Rasmussen stresses the need to focus on diplomatic negotiations instead of escalating military actions. EU’s foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, along with Ursula von der Leyen and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, echo this sentiment, advocating for continued negotiations. Contrary to this perspective, Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, argues that Iran has never abandoned diplomatic talks and criticizes the U.S. for undermining diplomacy. The U.S. attack, involving Tomahawk missiles and bunker-buster bombs, targeted three Iranian nuclear sites, with differing reports on damage extents from the U.S. and Iran.
