Custody ordered in fatal crash case

A 24-year-old man involved in a fatal car crash on the Hillerød motorway extension on July 6th that killed three people, including a couple and a 33-year-old man, is now to be taken into custody. The Eastern High Court overturned the Hillerød Court’s decision to release him on July 17th. The custody term has not yet been set. Authorities allege that the fatal crash resulted from a street race early in the morning. Two school-age children survived but were critically injured. Initially, the suspect was detained for ten days for endangering others’ lives and reckless driving. He is also charged with involuntary manslaughter and leaving the accident scene. Despite an expired detention period and calls for his release, the prosecution prevailed in the appeal, and the regional court ordered custody.
