EU electric car sales decline last year
In the EU, the sale of electric vehicles (EVs) experienced a 6% drop last year with only 1.4 million new EVs registered, influenced by Germany phasing out EV subsidies. Mads Rørvig from Mobility Denmark highlighted the close connection between EV sales and government incentives, stating the necessity of political support for the transition in transportation. Thomas Møller Sørensen of Dansk Industri echoed this, emphasizing the responsibility of both the EU and member states to stimulate EV sales through more support for production and infrastructure investments. Overall car sales in the EU increased by 0.8% to 10.6 million vehicles, while Denmark registered 89,128 EVs, almost half of the total 173,047 cars sold.
