Mette Frederiksen dismisses EU top job rumors

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen is often named in European rumors for top EU positions, currently for European Council President. Despite this, she insists she is not a candidate and expects to continue as Prime Minister. Frederiksen believes a Danish PM can exert significant influence in the EU and NATO, highlighting Denmark’s role regarding Ukraine and green transition. EU top positions will open this summer due to parliamentary elections, with expectations for Ursula von der Leyen to remain Commission President. The new EU President is elected by the current heads of state, with Belgian Charles Michel now holding the position.
