Danish hackers defend at cybersecurity EC

Denmark’s national team will challenge other countries’ servers at the European Cybersecurity Championship happening on Wednesday and Thursday in Italy. In this tournament, featuring over 30 countries, the teams must excel both in defending IT systems against cyber attacks and in breaching opponents’ systems. Team member Alexander Skovsende, a cybersecurity master’s student at Aalborg University, expresses confidence in the team’s synergy and skills, despite strong competition. The Danish team, consisting of individuals between 19-24 years, was selected from a pool of 700 aspirants through the National Hacking Championship, supported by various sponsors including the Ministry of Defence Intelligence Service and Industriens Fond. Last year, Denmark took first place at the EC and third place previously. They view Germany and Italy as major contenders for this year’s championship. The results are kept secret from the players until the end of the competition. Denmark will host the event in 2027.
