British group banned for mosque donation

Denmark’s Minister for Immigration and Integration, Kaare Dybvad Bek, has added the British Shia Muslim organization The World Federation of Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Muslim Communities (WFKSIMC) to a list banning donations over 10,000 DKK to mosques in Denmark, after supporting Copenhagen’s controversial Imam Ali Mosque. The Centre for Documentation and Response to Extremism found that WFKSIMC works against democracy and fundamental rights by, for example, advising on marriage contracts restricting women’s freedom and collaborating with a sanctioned Iranian university linked to the Quds Forces. The law, passed in 2021, has bipartisan support and includes nine entities and one individual. Donations above 10,000 DKK or cumulative donations reaching that amount can lead to fines and confiscation.
