Minister urges simplified rules for jobseekers

Employment Minister Ane Halsboe-Jørgensen criticizes the complexity of rules that hampers citizen employment, noting excessive mouse clicks needed for tasks at job centers. The government aims to save three billion kroner by 2030 by closing job centers, freeing municipalities to manage employment efforts and saving 1.1 billion used for funding the Arne pension. Five out of 12 billion kroner in the employment effort are currently spent on administration, despite historically low unemployment and high staffing levels. The minister emphasizes reducing administrative burdens through simplified regulations and improved local IT systems. Jens-Kristian Lütken, Copenhagen’s Employment Mayor, advocates for reducing rules to focus on helping the unemployed. A new Dansk Industri analysis shows over a third of businesses see job centers as essential for recruitment, especially in cleaning and industry sectors.
