Doctors and Midwives to Get Raise with New Agreement

A new collective bargaining agreement will provide a pay increase to 36,000 academics in Danish regions, including doctors, midwives, physiotherapists, and psychologists. The agreement spans two years and aligns with a similar state contract established about two weeks prior, offering an 8.8 percent economic frame. A 5.76 percent salary increase is expected in 2024, followed by wage improvements and a substantial pension enhancement in 2025, according to Djøf. The union’s emphasis is on real wage growth – the actual value of wage after accounting for inflation. The agreement comes in response to inflationary pressures that have eroded purchasing power. There is also an arrangement for an additional wage negotiation at the end of 2025 to address any salary disparities with the private sector. Furthermore, part of the deal includes setting up a savings account that provides employees with the option to take breaks or make transitions in their professional lives.
