Jysk buffet chain triples profits, eyes expansion
The Danish restaurant chain, Flammen, has rebounded from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, reporting a pre-tax profit of 17.1 million DKK, nearly tripling its earnings from the previous year and achieving its best result since 2017. In 2023, unaffected by pandemic closures, Flammen shifted to exclusively serve as an evening restaurant offering takeaway, having discontinued its brunch service. The management focused on minimizing costs and food waste amid rising food prices. With these strong results, Flammen plans to open more restaurants, targeting new locations within Denmark and internationally. A Holstebro location was launched in January, and the CEO Piet Klein anticipates adding one or two more restaurants this year, aiming for a profit increase to 24-28 million DKK.
