Denmark elects 8 new MEPs, 7 return

After counting all individual votes, according to KMD, Denmark’s EU Parliament will welcome eight new members and see the return of seven incumbents. The country has 15 seats in the EU Parliament for the next term. The exact candidates receiving the seats from each party depend on the individual votes, which were fully counted by Monday evening. The Social Democrats will occupy their three seats with incumbents Christel Schaldemose, Niels Fuglsang, and Marianne Vind, and Venstre’s two seats will be held by returning members Morten Løkkegaard and Asger Christensen. The Moderates, participating in their first EU Parliament election, have been represented since March 2023 when Bergur Løkke Rasmussen switched from Venstre. Stine Bosse, the top candidate from the Moderates, secures a seat with 86,888 personal votes, ranking fourth overall in individual votes, while SF’s lead candidate Kira Marie Peter-Hansen leads with 178,438 votes.
