Amira Smajic appeals fraud sentence

Amira Smajic, known from the documentary ‘The Black Swan’, is appealing her three-month prison sentence for document forgery, as announced by Retten i Herning. On August 23, Smajic was sentenced for forging an employment contract associated with a hair salon in Ikast that went bankrupt in 2019. Smajic advised the co-defendant, who was a director of the company owning the salon. According to charges, they sought to declare the salon bankrupt fraudulently to claim funds of DKK 124,850 from the Lønmodtagernes Garantifond. Smajic was found guilty; however, her co-defendant was acquitted, not proven to know about the forgery. Moreover, Smajic faces another trial in Odense for fraud, forgery, and theft related to 10 charges including deceiving an association of DKK 1.2 million from 2016 to 2021.
