Nordic countries to establish military corridor

Norway, Sweden, and Finland have agreed to create a military transport corridor connecting the northern regions of the three countries. The initiative aims to enable the rapid movement of military personnel and equipment from Norwegian ports to the new NATO members, Sweden and Finland. This was announced by the Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre after a defense policy meeting with his Swedish and Finnish counterparts. The defense ministers will now work out the specifics of the corridor’s implementation. Following their recent NATO inclusion, Sweden and Finland can now cooperate in new ways with Norway, enhancing the region’s defense capabilities. The corridor is considered especially crucial for Finland, as it offers a route out through Sweden and Norway if the Baltic Sea were to be blocked. The strategic meeting was held in Bodø, Norway, due to its proximity to the sea and the Swedish border.
