Trump vows NATO support if Europe follows rules
Donald Trump has stated that the USA will ‘100 percent’ remain a member of NATO as long as European members comply with the rules. In an interview with former British political party leader Nigel Farage on GB News, covered by Politico, Trump emphasized that NATO must treat the US fairly and that European countries should not exploit the US and must pay their share of defense costs. This statement arises amidst concerns in Europe following Trump’s February declaration that the US should only defend NATO members who pay their dues in the event of a Russian attack. Previously, Trump has suggested the possibility of pulling the USA out of the alliance, which includes 32 members. Trump is expected to be the Republican candidate in the upcoming US presidential election in November.
