Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen deemed President Joe Biden’s erroneous introduction of Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky as ‘President Putin’ a mere ‘slip of the tongue’ following the NATO summit in Washington D.C. Frederiksen emphasized the importance of not blowing the incident out of proportion, noting the alliance’s strength at its 75th anniversary and its unprecedented unity and dedication to Ukraine. She expressed full confidence in Biden’s leadership of NATO and the Western world, stating that internal U.S. affairs do not impact NATO’s discussions and decisions, which focus on defense, deterrence, and support for Ukraine. The Danish leader underscored NATO’s advances in bolstering Ukraine’s position and affirmed Ukraine’s desired future within NATO.
