Denmark talks with China on ship in Kattegat

Denmark and other countries are intensely negotiating with China to inspect the Chinese cargo ship ‘Yi Peng 3’ anchored in the Kattegat for a week, based on information from anonymous sources. The ship is linked to recent sabotage in the Baltic Sea, where damages were found on two data cables connecting Finland-Germany and Sweden-Lithuania after the ship passed by. The ship also turned off its AIS signal for about eight hours as it passed through the area, according to Marine Traffic data. The Danish navy has been monitoring the ship, with the inspection vessel ‘Hvidbjørnen’ and the German coast guard’s ‘Bad Dueben’ near ‘Yi Peng 3.’ Negotiations involve whether China will allow Swedish authorities to question the ship’s crew. Swedish police inspector stated it is not possible to force the vessel to port or stop it from sailing on.
