Tax errors or fraud found in half of work condition checks

The Danish Tax Agency reported discovering errors or fraud in 55% of inspections targeting poor working conditions, often affecting foreign workers, in the first six months of the year. According to the Tax Ministry’s press release, tax minister Rasmus Stoklund condemned social dumping, highlighting its impact on the domestic labor market and unfair competition. The Tax Agency has issued invoices totaling 266 million DKK in this year’s first half. Since 2019, efforts against social dumping have led to 2.1 billion DKK in invoices. Police and the Danish Working Environment Authority have partnered with the Tax Agency for 12 years, focusing on sectors with higher risk like construction, services, and environmental services, and conducting over 3,300 checks in 2023 with more than 1,700 checks already in the first half of 2024.
