Major doping smuggling case results in 10-Year jail term
Jacob Nordbeck Hansen, 40, has been sentenced to ten years prison for Denmark’s largest doping smuggling case, according to the prosecution. Alongside the sentence, ten million kroner were confiscated. Four others received jail terms from four months up to three years. The case unfolded with a joint Danish-German operation last June, seizing eight tons of doping and other illicit substances from a Kolding warehouse. The five men were recognized as a criminal organization, with Hansen as the leader. They used Copenhagen Airport to import the items, distributing them from Kolding to Europe. Hansen admitted limited guilt, claiming he was a ‘middleman’ for unnamed masterminds. The link to the warehouse emerged after a German documentary probing Alpha Pharma in India, whose founder, Jacob Sporon-Fiedler, was previously jailed for steroid smuggling.
