EU court fines Hungary over migration policy

The European Court of Justice has fined Hungary 200 million euros, approximately 1.5 billion DKK, for failing to follow EU migration policies and for illegally deporting migrants. In addition, Hungary has been ordered to pay a daily fine of 1 million euros until it complies with the agreed legislation. The fine was imposed as Hungary deliberately avoids complying with EU laws, despite a 2020 ruling by the EU Court that specified Hungary must enforce international asylum procedures, as stated by the EU Court in a press release.
