Vestas to erect 64 new wind turbines in Ukraine
Vestas completed the construction of wind turbines capable of 114 megawatts in Mykolajiv, Ukraine, back in 2023. Now, Vestas is set to build 64 additional turbines near the first Tyligulska wind park, increasing the capacity to nearly 500 megawatts, capable of powering an extra 700,000 households. The project, made possible through a state guarantee of 2.85 million kroner from the Danish Ukraine fund, represents the country’s largest wind energy project. A service contract for 20 years is included in the agreement with DTEK, the Ukrainian energy company. Construction starts in the first quarter of this year, with operation expected by the end of 2026. This project is crucial for Ukraine as it faces frequent Russian attacks on its energy infrastructure and will contribute to a resilient, secure energy system while meeting climate commitments.
