Messerschmidt opposes Løkke’s influence
Morten Messerschmidt, the Danish People’s Party leader, wants a conservative government without any influence from Lars Løkke Rasmussen, the political leader of the Moderates. Messerschmidt has repeatedly criticized the former prime minister and emphatically states he wouldn’t appoint Løkke as a minister even at the cost of his own ministerial position. Currently, opinion polls dismiss the possibility of a conservative government, with the blue bloc at 42% and the red bloc at 51.3%. Messerschmidt disregards Løkke’s potential necessity for forming a conservative majority and labels him as an opportunist. Jan E. Jørgensen of Venstre believes excluding Løkke doesn’t align with conservative government aspirations. Liberal Alliance’s Solbjørg Jakobsen also refuses to exclude any parties that could help unseat the current Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen. Lars Løkke Rasmussen has not yet responded to requests for comments.
