300 orderlies downed tools at Rigshospitalet
Wednesday morning, about 300 orderlies at Rigshospitalet decided to stop working in violation of the collective agreement, according to TV 2 Kosmopol. According to union representative Jens Anker Clausen, this was decided at a meeting on Wednesday morning. The work stoppage is expected to continue until 8.00 a.m. Thursday, when a decision will be made on whether the strike should continue. An emergency response team has been set up so that emergency patients can still be treated, writes the media. According to the union representative, the strike is due to an increasingly poor working environment for the orderlies at the hospital. “There are problems with the shift schedule and great unpredictability in when you have to work and when you have time off,” says Clausen adding that there is a lot of “sick leave that results in a large degree of overtime”. /ritzau/
