Food critic surprised by animal cruelty accusations
Søren Frank, a food critic for Berlingske, faces allegations of animal cruelty after reporting on a dinner in the Faroe Islands where live langoustines were cooked by immersing their tails in boiling water while counting to 12, a method he didn’t endorse. Despite only eating one langoustine and finding parts of the dinner distressing, he wishes he had clarified his stance against the preparation method. Actor Pilou Asbæk, who also attended, expressed regret on Instagram, claiming no intention to violate his animal ethics. Both are among those reported to the police by Valentina Crast, a Sea Shepherd campaign chief and former Alternative party EP candidate, who condemned the act as ‘sick and cruel,’ evoking an investigation for breaching animal welfare laws.
