Salling group marks European goods with stars

Starting Wednesday, Salling Group will introduce stars on the price tags of European goods at Føtex stores, with Bilka following suit on Wednesday and Thursday, and Netto on Thursday. This initiative aims to ease customers’ identification and purchase of European goods, as announced by Salling Group’s CEO Anders Hagh. The move is in response to consumer calls, partly driven by a Facebook group advocating a boycott of US goods due to trade war issues triggered by US President Donald Trump. However, non-European products will remain available, with the stars serving as an additional guide for interested buyers. Salling Group’s competitors, including Coop, Rema, and Dagrofa, have stated they will not be implementing a similar marking system.
