Danske Spil profits 1.7 Billion for charities
Despite inflation impacting consumers in Denmark, Danske Spil’s annual report for 2023 showed a slight increase in gross gaming revenue, amounting to over five billion kroner. The gaming surplus rose by 91 million to just under 3.7 billion kroner, with 1.7 billion kroner allocated for distribution to various associations and institutions in culture and sports. CEO Nikolas Lyhne-Knudsen stated satisfaction with the balance of responsibility and profitability, emphasizing proper conduct and encouraging healthy gaming habits. Changes in Lotto prize payouts resulted in a record 308 people winning a million kroner or more. Danske Spil also focused on promoting healthy gaming by doubling customer consultations regarding their gaming habits and halving TV advertising for sports and casino games since 2019. Expectations for 2024 project gross gaming revenue and surplus to be on level with 2023 or slightly higher.
