Danes receive 25 billion in tax refunds
Nearly four million Danish citizens, who paid too much tax last year, will receive tax refunds totalling approximately 25.7 billion kroner on Friday, as announced by the Danish Tax Authority. Most citizens—around four out of five—will see an average of nearly 6,600 kroner deposited into their accounts, similar to last year’s amount. Jan Møller Mikkelsen, Director at the Tax Authority, reminds people that these are funds they could have enjoyed last year with correct tax assessments. Refunds will proceed for those without changes to their tax returns or who made amendments by April 5th. Those correcting their returns after this date will receive refunds gradually. Refunds are not immediate for those with public debts, and around 700,000 citizens will owe a total of 6.7 billion kroner in taxes due to underpayment.
