Danish defense’s go-to Courier still runs in Russia

Scan Global Logistics, holding a billion-deal with the Danish Defense, continues to ship goods through Russia despite the invasion of Ukraine in 2022. This operation draws criticism from several parties, as reported by MobilityWatch. The Defense Ministry is currently reviewing the specifics of its cooperation with the company. The Moderates party member Bergur Løkke Rasmussen criticizes the use of Russian railways for Danish defense logistics, while Søren Søndergaard of the Red-Green Alliance and Christian Friis Bach of the Danish Social Liberal Party ask for reconsideration or dialogue. CEO Allan Melgaard of Scan Global Logistics argues they follow all rules and meet the demand. The company won a contract worth 1.8 billion kroner to manage transport and logistics for the Defense over seven years. Firms like Maersk, DSV, and Blue Water Shipping avoid Russian railways, which are not subject to EU sanctions.
