Supreme Court rules against Danish Crown
Danish Crown can no longer claim ‘Danish pork is more climate-friendly than you think’ nor refer to their pork as ‘climate-controlled’ for the next five years following a Supreme Court verdict on Tuesday. Climate Movement Denmark and the Danish Vegetarian Association sued the meat company for violating marketing laws with these statements. Earlier, the Western High Court partially acquitted Danish Crown but did not forbid the use of ‘climate-controlled pork.’ However, in April, Danish Crown accepted all demands from the opposition. The verdict confirms that Danish Crown acknowledged its breach of marketing laws. The associations expressed satisfaction with the decision, emphasizing its importance in preventing the misguidance of consumers about the highly climate-damaging pork production. Danish Crown has been ordered to pay 54,000 DKK in legal costs to the suing parties.
