Trump seeks to use Supreme Court ruling to void verdict
Former U.S. President Donald Trump is attempting to overturn his conviction in the hush-money case by leveraging a Supreme Court decision regarding legal immunity. In a letter sent to Judge Juan M. Merchan, Trump’s lawyers refer to a Supreme Court ruling that granted Trump a certain degree of immunity for actions taken during his presidency. The court distinguished between immunity for official presidential acts and personal actions. On May 30th, Trump was found guilty on all 34 charges of falsifying financial records to conceal an affair with a porn star. Trump’s attorneys are requesting to postpone the sentencing scheduled for July 11th.
