Danske Bank lays off 123 after record profits
Following a record profit report for 2023, revealing an excess of 21.3 billion, Danske Bank has laid off 123 of its staff. The layoffs are part of the bank’s strategy for 2028 aimed at increasing profitability and enhancing digitalization, which was presented last summer. Despite the bank’s success, these terminations have been labeled incomprehensible by the local chairman of Finansforbundet in Danske Bank, Kirsten Ebbe Brich. Brich criticized the move, noting the staff had carried a heavy load to achieve these results and had engaged positively in the bank’s recent transformation processes. Danske Bank reported to Børsen that the affected employees would be able to apply for open positions at the bank and would receive support in seeking employment elsewhere.
