Thrift shop can keep found of half-million kroner
The thrift shop Genskabet on the island of Orø is allowed to keep over half a million kroner found among donated items last November, states police spokesperson Thomas Kristensen. During a cleaning day, a volunteer discovered the money in triple-layered plastic bags on a shelf, initially mistaken for play money. The funds, handed to the police by the shop, remained unclaimed despite attempts to find the owner. The police concluded there was no indication the money was linked to a crime, considering it a donation. The nonprofit shop run by about ten volunteers aims to reduce waste on Orø and has yet to decide on the use of the money, with potential plans to upgrade the premises.
