Yacht saved from sinking in Bornholm harbor

The yacht ‘Genesis’ risked sinking in Gudhjem Harbor throughout the day. Bornholm’s Fire Department, alongside the Emergency Management Agency, succeeded in stabilizing the boat. A leak began during maintenance work around 10 a.m., as reported by TV 2 Bornholm. Efforts to hoist the yacht using a crane were initiated to facilitate water extraction. Incident Commander Per Zarzycki of the Bornholm Fire Department reported to Ritzau that the yacht was nearly emptied of water, though a lingering minor damage still lets water in, which they continue to pump out. By 3:50 p.m., expectations were to complete the work within one and a half hours. ‘Genesis’ is a flybridge yacht certified for 12 passengers and operates along Bornholm’s coasts, as stated by the owner Baltic Yacht Bornholm. No injuries were reported from the incident.
