USA approves missile sale to Denmark
The US has approved the sale of air-to-air missiles worth $215.5 million to Denmark, equivalent to approximately 1.5 billion Danish kroner. Denmark requested 84 AIM-120C-8 missiles and three control systems from RTX Corporation. Finland and Lithuania have made similar purchases following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Denmark’s government and multiple parties agreed to enhance Defense by 95 billion kroner, focusing on air defense to meet NATO’s goals after criticism. A parliamentary majority plans to invest 190 billion over the next decade in Defense, with significant budget increases announced in 2023 and 2024. Despite the deal made two years post Ukraine’s invasion by Russia, criticism arises due to delayed procurement spending.
