Elbit arms deal probe further delayed

The investigation into Denmark’s acquisition of weapon systems from Israeli company Elbit, known as the Elbit affair, has been postponed by another two months. This investigation aims to illuminate the misinformation given to the Parliament about the purchase. The delay, initially set to conclude by April 1 and then expected by July, is due to technical issues with email and text message retrieval, now resolved by the Defense Ministry. The case led to the dismissal of Morten Bæk, the then department head, after incorrect procurement deadlines were communicated by then-Defense Minister Jakob Ellemann-Jensen. Current issues include system delivery delays of about a year and potential additional costs of up to a billion kroner. Lise Bech of Danmarksdemokraterne criticizes the delay, pointing to the need for financial control within defense investments.
