Bird strike delays delivery of Denmark’s F-35 jets
A bird strike has delayed the delivery of four state-of-the-art F-35 fighter jets to Denmark, postponing their arrival by at least one day. The struck jet was part of a flight from the USA to the Azores before heading to Denmark. No danger was reported as the damage was only discovered after landing and didn’t affect the aircraft’s instruments. Denmark, having ordered 27 F-35s, expects to have 11 when these four jets arrive, allowing more focused operational integration by 2025. Colonel Kim Jensen from Fighter Wing Skrydstrup is keen on the jets’ impact on pilot and technician training. With seven more jets to be delivered by winter, Denmark’s F-35 fleet will reach 17, with six stationed in Arizona for training purposes.
