Experienced figures to represent S and V in EU

Experienced politicians from Socialdemokratiet and Venstre, with a background in Brussels, have been elected to represent the parties in the EU Parliament for the next five years. The official count on Monday night confirmed Christel Schaldemose, Niels Fuglsang, and Marianne Vind for Socialdemokratiet, and Morten Løkkegaard and Asger Christensen for Venstre. All five were incumbents. Socialdemokratiet secured 15.6%, and Venstre received 14.7% of the votes with SF being the largest party at 17.4%. Morten Løkkegaard obtained the second-highest number of personal votes at 174,048, following Kira Marie Peter-Hansen from SF with 178,438 votes. Christel Schaldemose garnered 142,198 votes, becoming the election’s third largest vote-getter. The figures were provided by the IT company KMD, responsible for the official vote tally.
