Parties seek clarity on Greenland affairs

Denmark’s Foreign Minister claimed no crisis over Greenland affairs despite a summons for party leaders to discuss the situation, evoking memories of COVID-19 crisis meetings. The meeting responds to Donald Trump advocating for US control of Greenland, not ruling out military and economic coercion. The Radical Liberal Party’s leader demands a detailed intelligence briefing on the issue, highlighting the importance of aligning with Greenland. The Conservative Party calls for explicit government assurance to strengthen the Kingdom’s unity, while the Alternative’s political leader urges immediate government opposition to Trump’s propositions. Furthermore, the Unity List criticizes the government for inadequate support of Greenland and the Danish People’s Party advocates halting talks of Greenland’s independence, suggesting a military upgrade with US help. Greenlander Aaja Chemnitz from the Inuit Ataqatigiit party is invited following initial exclusion.
