Spanish film with Danish actor wins Golden Lion
The drama ‘The Room Next Door’ won Best Film in the main competition at the Venice Film Festival on Saturday night, reports Reuters. The movie includes Danish actor Alex Høgh Andersen and features stars like Tilda Swinton, Julianne Moore, and John Turturro. Directed by Spanish auteur Pedro Almodóvar, this marks his first English-language film. Almodóvar, at 74, has received numerous accolades, including an Oscar for his 1999 film ‘All About My Mother’. ‘The Room Next Door’ premiered at the Venice Film Festival earlier in the week to a long-standing ovation of 18 minutes. In his acceptance speech, Almodóvar praised Swinton and Moore, stating that the film truly belongs to these two women. Meanwhile, Nicole Kidman won Best Actress for ‘Babygirl’ but was not present due to her mother’s sudden passing. Best Actor went to Vincent Lindon for ‘The Quiet Son’.
