Minister cautious on danish training in Ukraine
Denmark’s Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen is reserved about the idea of training Ukrainian soldiers on Ukrainian soil, a proposal by De Radikale. Although not outright rejected, Poulsen stresses Denmark’s principles of supporting Ukraine without becoming part of the armed conflict with Russia, a view shared by allies. Denmark’s focus remains on providing Ukraine with ammunition, air defense, and weapons, he says. De Radikales defense spokesperson, Christian Friis Bach, highlights the need for discussion in Denmark, similar to France, the UK, and Lithuania. He argues for on-site training due to fewer restrictions, logistical benefits, and the use of Ukrainian-manufactured equipment. Denmark already trains Ukrainian pilots on F-16 jets at Skrydstrup air base and participates in training efforts in the UK.
