Post-election female conscription expected

Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen asserts that female conscription will be established following the next election due to party disagreements. Though the issue holds ideological divisions—with Liberal Alliance and Denmark Democrats rejecting the proposal—a majority of parties support it. It’s a focal point in defense negotiations, which also entail significant material investments against the backdrop of Russia’s Ukraine invasion and Denmark’s defense upgrades. The minister hopes for a consensus, excluding the dissenting parties if necessary, to proceed with crucial military enhancements without letting the disagreement on female conscription hinder the overall defense strategy.
