Employment gains recover in September

After a slight drop in August, employment in Denmark increased by 4,300 individuals in September, reaching a record high of 3,029,400 wage earners. Over the past year, this marks an increase of approximately 28,000 people or 0.9%. Nykredit chief economist Palle Sørensen indicated that the August dip did not correlate well with other labor market indicators like unemployment and job vacancies. However, senior economist Mathias Dollerup Sproegel from Sydbank anticipates a slower growth rate ahead, citing potential economic slowdowns in Germany as a threat to the Danish labor market. Mette Hørdum Larsen, chief economist at Lederne, also expects a deceleration in job growth and remarks that some employment decline is possible as part of economic normalization after vigorous growth in recent years.
