Denmark’s supercomputer ranks 21st worldwide
Denmark’s AI supercomputer, Gefion, has officially ranked as the 21st most powerful worldwide on the top 500 list. The Danish Centre for AI Innovation (DCAI), which owns Gefion, announced this in a press release. The supercomputer was inaugurated just three weeks ago in an event attended by Danish King Frederik and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang. Nadia Carlsten, the CEO of DCAI, views this ranking as a milestone for Denmark’s global position in AI and supercomputing, serving as proof of their advanced technology for users and reflecting their ambition to drive groundbreaking scientific research and innovation. Gefion is set to aid in developing new medications, diagnosing diseases, and finding efficient solutions for green transitions. The 700 million kr project was primarily financed by the Novo Nordisk Foundation with 600 million kr, and the remaining 100 million kr funded by Denmark’s Export and Investment Fund.
