Agency proposes screen use guidelines for kids under two

The Danish Health Authority has issued new recommendations emphasizing reduced screen time for young children and suggests that children under two should not use screens without adult interaction. Parents should limit screen usage around their children to promote being seen, heard, and understood. Health Minister Sophie Løhde (V) endorses the specific advice provided. Digital media expert Kathrine Elmose Jørgensen from Børn’s Vilkår acknowledges the widespread screen usage among children and youths, and appreciates the authority’s guidance, highlighting the importance of expert-supported recommendations. Children aged two to four should have a maximum of one hour of screen time per day, while those up to 17 should limit it to two hours, and adults to three hours. A study by the University of Southern Denmark indicates that four-year-olds average seventy minutes of screen time daily.
