DR keeps controversial Greenland documentary

Danish broadcaster DR stated it has no plans to remove the Greenland documentary ‘Grønlands hvide guld’ despite recent heavy criticism. Changes have been made to the program text on DR’s website and app to highlight that DR acknowledges the criticism and the skewed result not matching the project’s intention. The new program text admits the film presents a one-sided view of the economic conditions and the actual value creation for Denmark and Greenland, and acknowledges the need for clearer separation of economic concepts and additional expert perspectives. The documentary, which was released on February 9th, has been criticized by economists and politicians, particularly over the misrepresented profit from a Greenlandic mine, which seemed to suggest Denmark earned up to 400 billion kroner from it. The documentary remains available to watch until January 1, 2029.
