Enhedslisten calls extraordinary meeting amid tensions
The party Enhedslisten’s main board has summoned an extraordinary general meeting for December 14th due to internal unrest, especially following the increasing factions within the group Rødt Venstre. The meeting will consider a proposal to exclude members who work against the party’s objectives. Current rules require a five-sixths majority for exclusion, but the proposal suggests changing it to a two-thirds majority. Additionally, there is a proposal for the executive committee to suspend members during exclusion processes. The debate and proposals have emerged after disagreements on how the party leadership has responded to the Israel-Palestine conflict, including distancing from the DFLP which was involved in an attack resulting in about 1200 Israeli deaths. The board seeks support to prevent members from defending targeted terror, war crimes, or organizations involved in war crimes.
