DSB expects record holiday passengers
Christmas travel is approaching, and DSB anticipates nearly 275,000 passengers during the festive days, potentially setting a new record, as per DSB’s information chief Tony Bispeskov. Compared to last year, 57% more Orange-tickets have been sold, and about 90,000 passengers had already reserved their seats by early December – an increase from the previous year’s 60,000. The travel rush is expected to be spread from December 20 to December 23, due to Christmas Eve falling on a Tuesday and many having the preceding Friday off. After a recent issue with the digital signaling system in Jutland, Bispeskov assures the system is now functional, and DSB is prepared for the influx. The busiest routes before Christmas are between Copenhagen and Aarhus, followed by Copenhagen-Odense and Copenhagen-Fredericia. Post-Christmas travel typically reverses direction, with the biggest return travel day expected to be December 26.
