Six youths released in tree felling murder case
Six individuals aged 19 to 21 were released after a prolonged preliminary hearing on suspicion of murder in a case concerning a felled tree near Sorø. The court in Næstved found insufficient grounds for murder suspicion, but acknowledged a justified suspicion of manslaughter. The six are accused of causing the death of a 55-year-old driver whose car was crushed by a tree cut down with a chainsaw. Additionally, they are suspected of endangering safety near Havrebjerg, where another tree was sawed down without resulting harm. The prosecutor revealed that detailed explanations from five of the accused were obtained, reducing the perceived risk of influence and leading to their release. At this early stage of investigation, court proceedings were private. More witnesses are being sought, and further arrests have not been ruled out.
