More houses listed at record high prices
The number of houses on the market is increasing, with a 14 percent rise in listed houses compared to the same month last year, reaching 34,222 houses for sale in Denmark. Record high asking prices are observed, with a typical 140 square meter house now being offered at 2.9 million kroner, which is 100,000 kroner more than a year ago. While sellers demand higher prices, lowered interest rates benefit buyers, making borrowing cheaper, according to Peter Jayaswal from Finans Danmark. The increased supply enhances buyers’ negotiating power, potentially easing price hikes, as explained by Brian Friis Helmer, an economist at Arbejdernes Landsbank. Factors such as high wage increases, high employment, and low unemployment contribute to rising purchasing power in Denmark, suggesting a mild uptick in housing prices soon.
