Merchants to pass Dankort fee hike to customers

From April 1st, merchants anticipate raising prices as Nets increases Dankort transaction fees by 8.9% due to a 27% drop in Dankort transactions last year, reported by Nationalbanken. Nets attributes the decline to the rise of digital wallets such as Apple Pay. Jannick Nytoft from the Danish Merchants Federation (DSK) finds the fee increase regrettable and pushes for more Dankort integrations into wallets like Google Pay and Apple Pay. Some banks aim to offer Dankort on Apple Pay by 2025. Despite the rise, Dankort transactions are still expected to be the cheapest option. Coop, a major grocery chain, assures that the increase will not affect its prices, and they seek clarification from Nets on the hike.
