SF criticizes S for using EU as excuse on green policies
Ahead of the EU elections, Socialdemokratiet (S) aim to present a strong green profile, but are accused by SF of using the EU as an excuse to not implement green measures domestically. SF points out several areas where S, along with the government, reportedly deflects responsibility to Brussels. Signe Munk, SF’s political spokesperson, criticizes S for its performance in Parliament, contradicting its green promises from the EU campaign. S have supported a plan in the EU for strictly protected nature areas but are seen as hesitant to commit to such measures within Denmark. They also face criticism for blocking a requirement for agricultural land set-aside, while only partially banning PFAS. Meanwhile, S refute SF’s claims, with spokesperson Lea Wermelin asserting alignment between the party’s EU and domestic actions, noting challenges and citing ongoing work towards biodiversity protection.
